As farmers ourselves we passionately believe that only the best will do, so we work with other local farmers to bring you meat of the highest quality from producers whose standards match our own.
Beef
Our beef is either from our own herd or from local farmers via Bakewell Market. We select beef that has a good fat covering and marbling effect throughout the meat. This gives our beef its incredible flavour and explains why it tastes so delicious. Our beef is then matured for up to 28 days, which allows the muscle fibres of the beef to break down. This natural process makes our beef incredibly tender, and gives it a real old-fashioned beef taste.
Lamb
Our lamb again ius from our own flock and is supplemented seasonally by other local farmers who who sell through Bakewell Market. It takes years of skill and judgement to produce great lamb. Naturally, our lamb is reared on our own farm where they are free to roam and graze, and their diet and welfare is of paramount importance. We offer a wide range of the highest quality lamb products, all hand picked and expertly butchered for the absolute best in tenderness and taste.
Pork
Our pork is supplied by Packington Pork who rear outdoor bred pigs with heaps of space to roam, be sociable and generally wallow in the mud. Packington Pork is recognised by RSPCA Freedom Foods as being the best you can get. The result- pork which is sweet and moist with delicious crispy crackling and a meaty flavour that only comes from traditional rearing and a genuine care for the welfare of the animals. The pork joints and grills we supply are cut to perfection by our highly skilled butchers. Our sausages are made with natural ingredients and are packed with real pork meat, with just the right amount of seasoning to please every palate.
Free Range Chicken
The welfare of chickens always comes first at our farm supplier, Packington Free Range. Not speedy results or low cost farming. Which is why we can say with conviction, that a Packington Free Range chicken will taste how chicken used to taste-full of flavour, succulent and tasty.
Barn Reared Poultry
Our top quality fresh poultry is sourced from Whitwams of Huddersfield and other local farms who are carefully chosen for their strong belief like ours in quality produce and old fashioned rearing methods.
Barn Reared Turkeys
Supplied by David Heap of Holmfirth the family have extensive experience in rearing Christmas turkeys, they have their own on site abbatoir meaning no stress filled journeys for turkeys.
Free Range Turkeys
Our free range white and bronze turkeys are supplied by John Wright of Hull, who have been rearing Christmas Turkeys for 40 years. As members of the Traditional Farmfresh Turkey Association (TFTA) their Turkeys are recognized by the EU to be Traditional Speciality Guaranteed.
